What do you do when you don't feel like working out?

Ugh.  Woke up in pain, and feeling "off" in general.  Took a handful of Advil, and some caffeine to kick-start myself, then off to the gym.  I had decided to not work my back today, and do abs and legs instead.  But every movement was making my back feel worse, so I changed my mind and did some back exercises as well.  Felt unfocused the entire time, but the back exercises did help a little.  I also inclined one of the ab benches to as sharp an incline as I could (close to 45 degrees) and hung upside-down on it to stretch my back.  That was my dad's suggestion; I inherited back issues from him, so he knows whereof he speaks.  That helped some too.  Forced myself to do 20 minutes on the elliptical, because it's good for me.  LOL.

This is one of those days when I did NOT want to workout, but did it anyway.  I'm sure I'll be glad I did(someday), but right now...it wasn't a good workout, I didn't enjoy it, and now I feel worse than before I went.  I'd better get some food in me; I feel like I might be sick if I don't.  I just want to go back to bed, but I can't.

I need to clean house today and tomorrow; my father-in-law is arriving tomorrow night to spend Christmas with us, and the house is a mess.

I iz sick.

Ugh. Hubby gave me his cold. I need to run out and get some Zicam, because he took the Zicam I had to work. Anyway, prayers would be much-appreciated. I am so congested, and my head feels heavy. I don't even feel much like knitting this morning. That, right there, tells you how bad I feel. Anyway, I'm gonna get some Zicam and some Vitamin C and hope for the best.

I decided to set aside the Adamas Shawl I was working on yesterday. I had forgotten that some of my friends also wanted to do that pattern, and we had talked about doing a knit-along. Oops. My friend Christine reminded me, but not before I had already done four repeats of the second chart. So it's back to "Surf" for me...once I feel more like knitting. Maybe this afternoon.

In the meantime, I have to get up off my behind and mail a couple of packages... ☺

I have a cold.

I thought it was just allergies. But now I'm pretty sure it's a cold. My nose is stuffy and runny. My throat is sore. And I feel very fatigued. I haven't even done anything today except take the kids to the library. So I should still have plenty of energy, considering I slept pretty well last night. But I need a nap. It's just past 10 in the morning, and I already need a nap. Bah. It's not fun to be sick.

I got a bunch of books at the library about knitting for babies; I'm thinking of knitting something special for Allyson. I won't get a chance to see her until October, so I'm trying to decide whether I want to make something for summer and send it, or make something for winter and bring it along when we go north this fall. I saw a pattern online for a pretty little short sleeved cardigan, which might work. But then, maybe long sleeves would be better. I can't decide. So I'm going to look through the library books and see if I find anything that strikes my fancy. To be honest, most babies' (or kids') patterns I've seen look like they're straight out of the 80s: oversized, boxy, too many colors, ridiculous patterns...if you knit, you know what I mean. No offense meant to anyone who likes that (outdated) style. ;) I'm looking for something sweet and pretty, probably with some lace, but nothing too intricate; maybe some ruffles...in either a very subtle variegated yarn, or a solid color. I might have to end up creating my own pattern. But I love doing that, so it's no big deal.

Now if I can just stay awake to look through those pattern books...
