Gonna try out a new hobby...

I've decided I want to try my hand at spinning. Some of my friends are spinners, and they were talking about how much they enjoy it. I figured that since I love knitting, I might also love spinning.

So I'm making myself a drop-spindle. I made the whorl out of polymer clay; it's really pretty. I mixed together burgundy, pink and white clay to make it look marbley. I hope once I put it together and get some roving, I can make it work. I think it could be a lot of fun. I've just finished baking the clay whorl, and it's cooling. I'll put it together with the dowel this evening. Tomorrow I'll go to Hobby Lobby and get some wool roving, if they still have it. I know I've seen some there before.

Wish me luck!

  1. Hi Knitter-if you can't find any roving, or need some more-let me know. I'd be happy to send you some from my sheep for free. I found you from Teapot Tantrums, via Ellie Jane, et al.. I am another non-banned Ravelry user who is leaving shortly. I just have 2 posts in archived threads to get deleted, then I'm outa there.

Question for you-Did you send an email, or a leter to that address in Boston to leave? I want nothing more with that site (although I will miss the politically incorrect conservatives group).

  2. Wow, what a generous offer, Trish! Thank you. I may take you up on that. :)

I am actually among the banned, but I've chosen not to try to get reinstated. I did send a few emails at first, trying to figure out just what happened. But it became clear pretty quickly that they weren't interested in communicating with us; I never did hear back after the initial form letter. That's fine with me; I no longer want anything to do with "The Place That Shall Not Be Named", as some of us refer to it. It's not the wonderful site I originally thought it was.
