My Angel is ten!

Today is Angel's birthday!  Of course, we've already celebrated, but still, it's good to mark the day.  She's going to make muffins for lunch.  Would have made them for breakfast, but someone forgot to tell anyone that she'd used up the eggs the other day.  So we need to run to the store this morning and get some eggs.  She's already opened all her presents, which included an angel figurine from Kitty, a porcelain doll from Princess, two books from Mommy(Indiana Jones trilogy and Star Wars trilogy, two of her favorites), a printer from Daddy, and a computer from Grandpa.  She's already more than 2/3 done with the Indiana Jones book.

So happy birthday to my Angel!

Good things.

The leaves are beginning to turn!  I love fall.  It's the prettiest season, along with being the beginning of cooler weather.
And look!  We have power lines on our land!
And here's the cement truck on its way to pour the basement walls!
Angel's tenth birthday is tomorrow.  We spent the weekend celebrating it, as Hubby would be out of town for the actual birthday.  Tomorrow, she gets to make muffins for breakfast, and take the day off of school.  Because birthdays are holidays in our school. ☻

Haven't really felt like blogging...

I just remembered that I was going to try to blog more often....and I haven't since last Thursday.  So...what shall I blog about?  Since this is my mostly-knitting blog, how 'bout I start with that?

I'm nearing the end of the blue Evellyn Anne blanket; almost ready for the ruffle.  Katiee's Bag is over halfway done, and stripes still make me twitch.  I haven't made much progress on Crown Jewels, because I've been so busy with those two projects.  I did a couple inches on the second Winding Road sock at Knit Night yesterday.  I have too many projects going on, and not enough time to get them all done.  As soon as I get the blanket done, the shawl will be top priority, since it's a sample for Knit Picks.  After that's done I need to start and finish on the Lacy KIP Bag sample.  And once I get Katiee's Bag done I need to finish writing the proposal for it and get that sent off.....and time is flying!

I've also been trying desperately to get organized.  It's not going well.  Every time I think I'm nearing the end of a project, I see that the kids have undone half of it, or totally un-organized some other room.  Someday I'll be organized.... like Kitty tells me, "Mommy, when I'm grown up, you won't have any more kids."  Yes, darlin', that's true.  Hopefully I survive to experience that.

Speaking of Kitty, she turned four last weekend.  She had a fun birthday, with lots of cake, and a bunch of great presents.  Fortunately, she's easy to please when it comes to gifts.  I can hardly believe she's really four years old already.

Okay, I think that's enough for now.  I'm gonna go knit on that blanket.

I had a birthday!

Yesterday was my 30th birthday.  And aside from being hungover from my party on Saturday night, it was a good birthday.  On Saturday, we had a little cookout party in the backyard.  Hubby sent me to the store for a few last-minute things, and I didn't realize he did it for a reason.  Haha...I hurried to the closest store, got just what I needed, and hurried home....and caught him and the kids and the neighbors decorating the back yard!  There were streamers and balloons and confetti, and a very cool Happy Birthday banner, with the background of the banner being a pic of my Posy Patch blanket!  Hubby had bought me some beautiful, enormous wine glasses...I'm pretty sure you could fit a whole bottle of wine in one...and a couple bottles of cabernet, which is my favorite wine.  The neighbors gave me a cool ceramic wine mug that says on one side "Mommy needs wine" and on the other side "This is the only whine Mommy likes".  Hmmm...sensing a trend here...maybe I drink too much wine...lol

Anyway, we stayed up late and partied the night away, then had to get up early for church yesterday, since we were scheduled to work in the nursery for the early service. (What in the world were we thinking?!)  We weren't feeling too terrific, so we didn't stay for the service afterward.  I'll look on our church's website for video of the sermon later today.  Anyway, we got home from church, and the kids gave me their presents: two books "America By Heart" by Sarah Palin and "Decision Points" by George W. Bush, two boxes of chocolates(which they've already helped me sample), and Hubby gave me some jewelry he had bought from my sister(she's a Premier Designs jeweler).  Great gifts, all of them. ☺ I took a nice long nap in the afternoon, which helped with the hangover.

I've already started reading Sarah's book.  I really admire her.  I think if we knew each other personally, we'd be friends; we have a lot in common.  I'd love to be able to vote for her someday. ☺Which would drive my father-in-law batty. Haha.

Angel's birthday

Yesterday was Angel's birthday.  She's nine years old now.  I can hardly believe it.  They grow so quickly....

It was a fun day.  She went to breakfast with Daddy, and he gave her a pair of beautiful Black Hills Gold earrings.  Then we all went to Chuck E Cheese's for lunch, and had a lot of fun.  I gave Angel the shawl I made while we were on vacation, and a little wooden box for her knitting tools, and a bunch of stitch markers and such to keep in it.  Princess gave her a t-shirt from Mount Rushmore, and Kitty gave her a really pretty necklace from the thrift shop.  Angel helped make the cupcakes, and iced them herself.  So all in all, it was a good birthday.

I did a bunch of yardwork yesterday afternoon, and my muscles are still protesting today.  Now that we know we're not moving to Florida, we're going to fix up our yard and make it nicer.  We're going to trim trees, and sod the front yard, and mulch the shady area in the backyard, and create a stepping-stone path in the side yard, and plant shade-loving perennials in the stupid planting beds that are too close to the house to get enough sun for most plants, and build a little storage shed for the rakes and shovels and such.  And when I say "we" I mean mostly "I".  Which is just fine with me.  I like building stuff.  Other yardwork, not so much, but it's worth the effort, now that the weather is cool enough to do it.  The forcasted high for today is less than 80 degrees.  I love it.  It's sunny, but breezy and cool.  Fall is here!

Happy birthday, Kitty!

First of all....a pic from Easter Sunday, just before church......
Yesterday was Kitty's third birthday! I didn't make a fancy cake, just cupcakes, because that's what she wanted. But here are a few pictures of the presents:
A sundress and a plush bunny from an aunt and uncle

Five dresses(one is for church) from Grandpa O.

Kitty hugging her new pink bunny

a Snow White dressup dress from Daddy

There were other presents, of course, but those ones were the best. ;)

Finished the first sleeve!

I haven't got a picture to post, but the first sleeve of Angel's sweater is done. And I started the purse I'm making for Princess, to go along with her shrug.

Yesterday was my birthday. It was a lot of fun. I got to relax and knit, and didn't do a single bit of laundry. ;) Even though it needed to be done. I'm catching up on laundry today and tomorrow. Anyway, I got a bunch of yummy presents; cookies and more cookies and chocolates...and Hubby gave me Sarah Palin's book. I've only finished the first chapter, but so far it's a really good book. :)

My allergies are driving me crazy today, and the benedryl is making me sleepy, so that's why this post is less-than-coherent. Signing off now...I'll post more, more-coherently, when I have time.

Dolly's birthday

Today is Dolly's birthday. She is two years old. I can hardly believe it; she's growing so fast. She got a very cute little tea set for her birthday; the teapot makes boiling and pouring sounds, and sings songs about tea. She really likes it; she spent the rest of the day giving all of us tea. I spraypainted her old (very very old) dolly cradle purple, and helped Angel (my oldest) make a doll-sized quilt and pillow to go with it. The cradle itself was made for my husband's aunt when she was a little girl, and I had painted it cream several years ago. But now I'm getting ready to redecorate Princess and Dolly's bedroom in a fuschia and purple color scheme. So purple it is!

We just had a nice, quiet family celebration. I'm not much good at planning parties, so I've decided to just enjoy birthdays without turning them into big productions. Less stress for me that way. :)
